ARPKD is a relatively rare form of the disease, affecting approximately 1 in 20,000 infants. ARPKD often causes death in the first month of life. For newborns who survive, approximately 1/3 will need dialysis or a transplant by age 10.
Logan is a brave little boy dealing with his ever growing kidneys. I wrote this book to give him a tool to use with his classmates in kindergarten to explain his disease in a way other children could understand.
